About the Creator
Irene Carter, creator of SLANG-A-LANG!™ the game, attributes her love of words and history to her early years as a patron of the library across the street, and attending nationally acclaimed Sumner High School in her native Kansas City, Kansas. Her University of Kansas, School of Nursing, and University of Missouri Master of Arts in Education, opened doors to Nursing Education and Health Administration positions for which she earned numerous awards and honors.
Our Story
SLANG-A-LANG!™ is a Black History board game. It's a roadmap into the African-American experience (1930 - 1980s) in America, explored through language.
This story about a courageous 50+ year journey, takes us into some of the most transformative years in modern History. It's told in the people’s own words.
Bingo with Lingo, and a twist, a glossary and more, Slang-A-Lang! is a 2-15 player and age 8+ game. It's for multi-cultural, multi-generational groups and global communities to have FUN.
Our focus is education and unity.
The game originated in 1969 to help heal the racial divide in the wake of Dr. Martin Lurther King Jr’s assassination. Today, we need your support in taking Slang-A-Lang! into the modern era to help create a positive dialogue amongst people from all cultures. The Limited and Legacy Edition is now available.
